Quality Ingredients Creatively Prepared by Expert Hands

eat horizontalAt the Bighorn River Lodge, the food is as memorable as the fishing. Our Executive Chef Shawn Smith and the culinary team prepare fresh and locally-grown produce (often from our garden) with the finest cuts of meat, poultry and fish to prepare a cuisine akin to any 5-star restaurant. Enjoy watching the artistry of our chef in the open gallery kitchen as he prepares your four-course meal. Be our guest and expect to be impressed.

Rise and Shine

Awaken to the smell of Montana roasted coffee brewing while bacon sizzles on the griddle. As your guide prepares the boat for your day on the river, sit down to enjoy a home-style breakfast of hearty fare such as:

  • Banana bread French toast, Montana huckleberry syrup, apple chicken sausage
  • Mexicana scrambled eggs, homemade cottage potatoes, Canadian bacon
  • Blueberry pancakes, Montana apple smoked bacon
  • Healthy options of steel-cut oats, fresh fruit and yogurt are always available.

Boat Lunches as Enjoyable as the River Itself

Just ask any guide, the Bighorn River Lodge is known for having the best boat lunches on the river. No PB and J sandwiches here (unless requested, of course!). When lunchtime rolls around, your guide will find a quiet spot on the banks of the Bighorn River to eat. On warm days, meals may consist of deli-style sandwiches and side salads such as:

  • Turkey club and pasta salad or taco salad with chipotle ranch
  • Cubano and a Caesar salad or crispy fried chicken with potato salad
  • Pulled Pork (brined overnight and slow cooked in the smoker).
  • **All boat lunches are accompanied by a variety of chips, homemade cookies, snacks, cold water, and soft drinks.

When the weather turns cooler, enjoy hot soups all made from scratch in our kitchen, including:

  • minestrone, clam chowder, chili, cream of broccoli, or potato soup.

Swap Fishing Stories Over Courses of Culinary Artistry

eat verticalEvening is a time to unwind and kick back with your companions. Enjoy a cool drink on the spacious deck overlooking our eight-acre bass pond or savor a delicious appetizer while watching the chef put the final touches on his evening culinary creation. Appetizers may include:

  • Sliders with andouille sausage and pimento cheese
  • Pastrami spiced ribs
  • Grilled stuffed morels with short rib sugo
  • Steak tartare

Sit down for dinner at a harvest table overlooking the serene Bighorn River. The first course consists of a vegetable or salad dish with homemade dressing and fresh produce. Examples of our current entrée dishes include:

  • Bavette steak, duck fat potatoes, grilled ramps, and bordelaise mushroom
  • Fresh potato gnocchi, polpette, braised gem lettuces.
  • Nduja baked halibut, English peas, Bighorn mushrooms, smoked ramp vinaigrette
  • Korean BBQ guinea hen, celery root slaw, Chinese mustard
  • Pan seared Arctic Char, creamed corn, chanterelle mushrooms, salsa verde

And save room for dessert! Among our guests favorites are:

  • Salted caramel pot de crème, maple smoked crème fraiche and sea salt
  • Sticky date cake, dulce de leche, olive oil ice cream
  • Strawberry rhubarb galette, polenta crumble, lemon poppy ice cream

Your enjoyment is our top priority. Please inform us of any dietary needs you have and we will work to accommodate you!
